We are working with this really kick-ass commerce technology company that offers everything from Billing, Payments, Online store, Order management, direct connection into commerce, content, and search all wrapped up in a subscription solution. They are headquartered out of San Francisco, CA.

 

They are here to simplify eCommerce subscription management and recurring billing to help brands build lasting bonds with customers.

They are only looking to speak with candidates that come directly from an eCommerce platform provider and or from a subscription billing platform company. If you don't have this in your resume, I am sorry, but you are not a fit currently. You really need to come from the space, understand it and where it's headed. Building an eCommerce site will not qualify you for this role. You need to have worked on the vendor side of the business for a company that sells eCommerce platforms.

 

The Role:

The Director of Solutions Engineering is a player-coach, actively working with their team members to support pre and post sales activities, solution design and implementation delivery and practice development.

 

The selected candidate will partner with Sales during customer discovery to understand client needs, showcase the solution through demonstrations, presentations, and rapid prototyping. Work closely with clients to understand their business and technical environment, uncover technical challenges and goals related to subscription commerce, then develop and document a solution that addresses the client’s needs.

 

As a player-coach, you will also hire, develop, and allocate resources, perform employee reviews and evaluations of Solutions Engineers.

 

We’re looking for someone who enjoys engaging with customers, listening to customer requirements and pain points, using their insight to design and create what customers need and has trifactor skills of business acumen, technical competencies, and leadership.

 

What you will do:

  • Discover and understand client’s goals and business needs
  • Uncover client’s constraints, technical problems, ecosystem, and environment
  • Showcase the solution through demonstrations, presentations, and rapid prototypes
  • Participate in client-facing meetings to discuss and finalize technical questions
  • Understand the requirements from clients/ functional consultants
  • Participate in client calls and seek clarifications.
  • Perform requirements feasibility with regards to implementation and testing
  • Break down the requirements into smaller modules.
  • Provide inputs in designing end to end solutions from a technical perspective.
  • Respond to RFI/RFP
  • Track issue/problem resolution
  • Conduct RCA
  • Define communication and issue resolution matrix.
  • Drive and implement best practices for resolution of issues
  • Liaise with business users/SMEs to resolve issues if required.
  • Track adherence to SLAs.
  • Identify, document, and communicate change records, Conduct change impact assessment.
  • Create and update knowledge articles
  • Provide guidance to team members to maintain all documentation related to project.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions
  • Create knowledge articles on the problem, workaround solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge management database and monitor and report the usage of knowledge articles
  • Conduct technical, face to face interviews with candidates and support the recruitment process.
  • Set goals for team members and monitor performance.
  • Be the technical resource and mentor for less experienced Solutions Engineers
  • Assist with the development of productivity tools

 

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Hands on approach to problem solving. Always ready to work opportunities directly alongside your team when needed.
  • Strong communication skills. Confident in influencing and engaging with a highly skilled and experienced audience including C-level executives.
  • Possess good analytical capabilities, be organized and able to work many tasks at the same time.
  • Proficient with eCommerce or CRM technologies (or other Enterprise SaaS business applications) and be able to present to a business or technical audience.
  • Support the Solution Engineering team by providing guidance on sales strategies, approaches to solve specific problems, as well as represent their team's needs to executive staff.
  • Have good value and solution selling skills
  • Knowledge of (some) advanced technologies and business processes including: Modern Web & Mobile Applications, Cloud Technologies and development, eCommerce SaaS, Subscription SaaS, WMS, Order Management, ERP
  • Able to be self-guide and thrive in an unstructured and ambiguous environment
  • Must have successfully implemented at least 20 SaaS solutions from beginning to end.
